I was born, then I grew up, went to school, got a job, got married, then divorced, owned a business and moved around a lot while getting new jobs and, finally, buying a house in Tacoma. Oh, and I am Irish. |

I went to twelve schools before I graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1969. At the height of the so-called hippie era, I lived on a commune on the Lumni Indian Reservation. From there, I lived in Toutle, WA and watched as a mud slide from Mt. St. Helens washed away my first purchased home and all of my belongings. A graduate of Western Washington University, I decided to abandon my potential fiction writing career and pursue a career in education. For a year, I worked as a Vista Volunteer (domestic Peace Corp) in one of the first Resource Rooms in Castle Rock, WA. After that, I went on to receive a teaching degree in Regular and Special Education, grade K-12. Since then, I have worked in the Toutle Lake School system; at a Longview, WA Community College; in the Vancouver School District; at a Lincoln City, OR 's Community College; in the Gallup, NM school system; at Tukwila schools; and, now, here. My other jobs include: working as a puppeteer for two years; as a fiction writer; owner of a computer training business; a stint in professional photography; and work in a woman's abuse shelter. One of the highlights of my educational career was the time I spent on a Dine' or Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. My responsibilities have included Director of Indian Education in Toutle, Special Education teacher K-12, Behavioral Specialist, Inclusion Specialist, IEP developer, and, presently, the Writing and Computer Instructor at Chief Leschi High School. My education includes two Bachelor of Arts Degrees from Western Washington University and a Master's Degree from Washington State University. |
