Reports to: D. Division
Building Principal Instruction
Under the lead direction of the building
principal, provide educational and clerical support services to an assigned
certificated teacher(s). Work
effectively with certificated staff to provide the best possible learning
environment for all students. Assist
with the supervision and instruction of students as directed by the assigned
certificated staff.
A.
Essential Functions
1. Provide tutorial
services to students individually or in small groups as assigned by the
classroom certificated teacher(s).
2. Assist classroom
teacher(s) with the planning of special activities, lesson preparation and
implementation.
3. Accompany
students on field trips.
4. Work closely
with the Native American Culture staff to assist with providing culturally
related activities for the enhancement of the student’s self esteem
5. Assist
teacher(s) with classroom management in the area of discipline, to include the
development and maintenance of positive student behavior.
6. Assist with the
supervision of students during building activities such as assemblies and other
special program.
7. Provide general
classroom assistance with the duplication of needed materials, correcting
student assignments, testing students and recording results of test, preparing bulletin
boards, typing and filing.
8. Assist with the
collection and maintenance of student attendance and lunch information.
9. Participate in
building staff meetings and/or parent meetings as determined by building
supervisor.
10. Maintain
effective communication with classroom teacher and program administrator.
11. Maintain
professional conduct when working with students, staff and parents.
12. Maintain regular
attendance and punctuality.
13. Perform other
duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to
implement written and/or verbal instructions.
2. Ability to work
effectively with Native American students and serve as a positive role model.
3. Ability to
organize facts and present them in a clear, concise and logical manner, both
orally and in written form.
4. Ability to
establish and maintain effective work relationships.
5. Ability to
demonstrate and maintain confidentiality.
6. Ability to work
independently and to exercise sound judgment.
1. Associate’s
degree OR
2. At least 2yrs. of
study at an institution of higher education OR
3. Successfully
passed a formal State or local academic assessment
1. Knowledge of
traditional Native American cultures and values
2. Experience
and/or training working with behavior disordered students
3. Bachelors Degree
from an accredited college or university in any field
4. Experience as a
teacher’s assistant
