AVID

  • What is AVID?

    AVID creates student learners:

AVID students reflect and question rather than repeat and memorize. They are taught to articulate what they don’t understand, think critically, collaborate and self-advocate.

    AVID improves teacher effectiveness:

AVID doesn’t change what is taught, but HOW it is taught. AVID trains educators to invest in relationships, to engage and excite students, and nurture student-center teaching.

    AVID Address equity:

High expectations begin by changing what educators and students believe is possible.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) changes lives by helping schools shift to a more equitable, student-centered approach to learning. AVID trains educators to close the opportunity gap, so they can prepare ALL students for college, careers, and life.
