Wolf Lodge Leader Annual Message

  • August 2019

    Dear Families,

Welcome to the Wolf Lodge at Chief Leschi Schools this 2019/2020 school year! I am excited to be part of the lodge leader team, leading our staff to improve learning for our students. Our children are our future, and it is vital that they are successful. I have been in education for nearly 20 years, and I have experience leading in alternative, comprehensive, and international school settings. Our mission, rooted in traditional values, is that Chief Leschi Schools will provide a culturally and academically rich environment that prepares our students for future success. The mission of Chief Leschi Schools unites well with my own mission to empower how others view the world around them based upon self-value, integrity, and success. My fellow lodge leader team members have similar missions as dedicated professionals in working with children, and at Chief Leschi Schools, we will work tirelessly to ensure that they are successful.

Empowering students begins with learning who they are and where they are in their academic journeys. In the first month, student baselines will be established in math, reading, science, and writing. Progress will be monitored throughout the year, and interventions will be provided to ensure progress for all students. From the start, Grade 6 students may feel overwhelmed by the increased rigor of middle school, but we as the lodge leader team are here for our students and families to support our teachers and staff, and by October it is my goal that all students will feel comfortable, successful, and well on their way to achieving proficiency in all subjects. Grade 7 students will start the year knowing how far they have come and be instilled with confidence to continue their journey as independent learners, while continuing to establish their own identities as unique and talented individuals. Grade 8 students will be challenging the system, ready for their transition to high school, and we must make sure that they have all the academic, social, and foundational vocational skills they will need to succeed in the Eagle Lodge and to later achieve their dreams in life.

It is my hope you will be able to make it to the final Chief Leschi Schools “Meet and Greet” if you have not been to one already. It is in our community on Thursday, August 22nd at Tiffany’s Skate Rink. Once again, I look forward to working with you this 2019/2020 school year and welcoming you into the Wolf Lodge culture of success!

    Best regards,

    Matt Harvey

Wolf Lodge Leader (Principal Grades 6-8)
