Hearing and Vision Screening

Health Screenings: Vision & Hearing

Washington State law requires schools to conduct auditory and visual screenings of children each year. Students in grades K, 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7 are screened. If your child is not scheduled to be screened this year you may request a screening by contacting your child’s teacher or school nurse. Inform them of any concerns you may have.

Parents/guardians will be notified by my mail if their child does not pass the screening (s). A professional evaluation by an eye care professional or a hearing specialist is

recommended for students who do not pass their vision or hearing screenings. If you have

any questions regarding the results of your child’s screening, please contact the school

nurse.

If you do not wish to have your child screened or you have any questions or concerns.

Please reach out to your school nurse.
