Volunteer Application
Become a volunteer!
We are pleased you are interested in volunteering at Chief Leschi Schools. We appreciate volunteers who give their valuable time and knowledge to help our students grow and learn.
Human Resources has updated the process and procedures for volunteers to comply with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (ICPFVP Act) and 25 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 63. These updates ensure we meet legal requirements and protect the safety of our students.
Who is a Volunteer?
Volunteers include parents, community members, consultants, and others who wish to contribute their time and talents to our students. This group encompasses volunteer coaches, field trip chaperones, canoe journey chaperones, and anyone having regular contact or control over Chief Leschi students (who are not current employees).
Important Guidelines:
- The completed volunteer packet must be submitted to Human Resources at least 15 days prior to the intended volunteer work to allow enough time for processing.
- Volunteers must check in and out at the school office for each shift.
- Volunteers are not permitted to access or share any confidential information or student data.
- Volunteers cannot begin until all background checks have been satisfactorily completed.
Volunteer Application Process:
- Submit Volunteer Packet:
Complete and submit the volunteer packet to the Human Resources Department.
- Provide Required Identification:
Volunteers must provide a valid ID or passport, social security card, and Tribal ID (if applicable) when submitting the packet.
- Complete Fingerprinting:
After submitting the application, HR will provide directions for completing the fingerprinting process. Chief Leschi Schools will cover the cost.
- Background Checks:
Human Resources will conduct reference checks, a national background check, a Tribal background check (if applicable), and a National Sex Offender Registry check.
- Clearance Notification:
Once a volunteer passes the background checks, they will receive an email notification from HR confirming eligibility. The Office Coordinators and Administrator will also be informed.
- Orientation:
The school buildings will be responsible for scheduling an orientation session for cleared volunteers.
- Begin Volunteering:
Once orientation is completed, volunteers can start in their approved role.
