Reopening Plan: Move to Phase 2 for Elementary Students

Posted 2/18/2021

Dear CLS Parents and Families,

Based upon the guidance from Dr. Shelton, Medical Director for the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority, CLS School Board, Tribal Council, and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, we are planning to welcome back elementary students to in-person instruction on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

Students that wish to continue to receive online instruction must contact our elementary administrators to let them know of your interest. You can contact the elementary office at (253)445-6000, ext. 3001.

Elementary students will attend school in-person 4 days a week, Tuesday through Friday. Monday afternoons will continue to be designated as support time for students in need of additional support as identified in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or current student instructional data.

We have created a Return to In-Person Learning: Reopening Chief Leschi Schools Buildings Guide to showcase the many ways we have adapted operational protocols, classrooms, transitions, transportation, meal times as well as information on COVID guidance and procedures. Click here to view it.

Over the next week, we will continue to provide additional information about the elementary return to in-person instruction.

Secondary students will remain in distance learning with continued support time for students in need of additional learning support, as identified in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), current student assessment data, or graduation credit retrieval plan.

We are tentatively planning to welcome back secondary students on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, in a Hybrid Format. More details will be coming in the weeks ahead.
